Travis Becker wins Wisconsin PGA Teacher of the Year Award

Beloit Club and Ironworks Golf Academy instructor recognized for teaching achievements

BELOIT, Wis. – Beloit Club and Ironworks Golf Academy are proud to announce their director of instruction, Travis Becker, was awarded 2021 Teacher of the Year by the Wisconsin PGA. The award recognizes individuals who provide outstanding services as a golf teacher, innovator and coach. Becker is a three-time recipient of the prestigious award.

Becker has performed more than 18,000 golf lessons and over 10,000 club fittings to-date. He was named a Top 100 Teaching Professional with GRRA Magazine and he received the Wisconsin PGA Youth Development Award for his extraordinary and exemplary achievements in junior golf. Becker has been recognized by Golf Digest as a top teacher in the state of Wisconsin and named a Top 100 Club Fitter with Titleist and Ping.

“I am honored yet humbled to be selected as the 2021 Wisconsin PGA Teacher of the Year,” Becker said. “I’m passionate about developing relationships with golfers and helping them improve their performance and enjoy this great game of golf. It is great to be recognized by my peers for something that I love to do.”

Becker joined Beloit Club and Ironworks Golf Academy in 2016 as director of instruction. Previously, Becker spent 17 years at Cherokee Country Club in Madison, WI, as head golf professional under the tutelage of Larry and Dennis Tiziani, two of the state’s most decorated teachers.

“Travis was tasked with elevating the Beloit Club’s golf instructional programs thereby bettering member retention and recruitment through top-notch instruction leading to more enjoyment of the game,” says Kent Instefjord, general manager of Beloit Club.

“Not only has Travis exceeded expectations in that regard, but he has taken the program to new heights by assembling an impressive team of instructors while implementing cutting edge technology into unique, fun and successful programs for all age groups and ability levels.”

The PGA of America is the world’s largest working sports organization, with more than 28,000 expert golf professionals who are dedicated to growing, teaching and managing the game. The Wisconsin section is one of the 41 affiliated regional sections, whose 500+ members and associates range from the upper peninsula of Michigan to nearly the entire state of Wisconsin.

Becker will be officially recognized in the fall at a special awards reception hosted by the Wisconsin PGA.
